ST. LOUIS — 5 On Your Side is partnering with the Missouri History Museum for the “Gateway to Pride” exhibit, which opens Saturday, June 8.
The exhibit detailing St. Louis’ LGBTQIA+ history and culture will remain open for more than a year.
5 On Your Side is producing programming about the content of the exhibit, which will debut at a museum event Thursday, June 6.
The Missouri History Museum’s website states “The result of a community-driven, nearly decade-long collecting initiative, Gateway to Pride will showcase meaningful artifacts, striking images, and insightful oral histories. Through the exhibit, visitors will discover a surprising and revealing new perspective on the region’s past, and LGBTQIA+ St. Louisans will see themselves as central figures in their region’s history like never before.”
5 On Your Side meteorologist Jim Castillo and anchor/reporter Travis Cummings will serve as our co-hosts for the evening.
- Happy hour starts at 5 p.m.
- The program starts at 6:30 p.m.
- The event is open to the public with no admission fee.
5 On Your Side will be debuting four video stories previewing the exhibit and the St. Louis history behind it. Producers are in communication with Missouri Historical Society Assistant Curator, LGBTQIA+ Collections, Ian Darnell; exhibit designer Abigail Server-Verhey, and other Missouri History Museum officials about the content of those stories.
A panel of experts will drive the discussion. They will also answer questions and prompt questions from the audience.
