Filmhub, a global distributor of film and television rights, has introduced its Black Cinema Vertical (BCV) to enhance visibility and access for Black filmmakers. This initiative aligns with Filmhub’s commitment to meritocracy and offers distribution opportunities for Black storytellers across more than 120 international platforms, including Tubi, BET, Amazon, and HBO.
Filmhub is redefining traditional distribution models by removing barriers and empowering filmmakers to retain ownership of their work while reaching global audiences. The Black Cinema Vertical (BCV) is dedicated to ensuring that diverse narratives receive the visibility they deserve in an industry where Black audiences are often overlooked.
Leading this initiative is Gregory Maurice, Filmhub’s Acquisitions Lead for Black Cinema. With a strong background in film curation and a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices, Maurice is dedicated to acquiring high-quality films and series that resonate with Black audiences, while also creating pathways for filmmakers to enter both mainstream and niche markets.
“Filmhub aims to create opportunities for all filmmakers, and the Black Cinema Vertical is a vital part of that vision,” Maurice stated. “We are committed to ensuring that Black filmmakers have equal chances to monetize and distribute their work globally—free from unnecessary obstacles.”
With a growing lineup of captivating projects from innovative creators, Filmhub’s BCV is poised to become a significant force in the future of Black cinema distribution. Recent highlights include Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis’ Match Point, New York Times best-selling author JaQuavis Coleman’s Everything is Both, and megaproducer Jennifer Pessima’s The Despaired.
Filmhub Co-founder and CEO Alan d’Escragnolle, along with Gregory Maurice, are available for interviews to discuss the Black Cinema Vertical and how Filmhub is transforming opportunities for filmmakers.
