Black to the Future: Urgent Fundraising for Historic Mayday Parade: Support Annie Malone Family and Children’s Service (UPDATED)

Join the Annie Malone Family and Children’s Service in raising funds for the historic Mayday Parade scheduled for May. With only $15,000 raised so far, help us reach our goal of $120,000. 

UPDATE: A message from CEO Keisha Lee: The Annie Malone Parade is set to take place this year on Sunday, May 18th, 2025.

According to the CEO of Annie Malone Family and Children’s Service, Keisha Lee, there is much work that needs to be done, to ensure that they raise funds for the historic Mayday parade, scheduled for May. She took to Facebook in a video stating that they have donations of over $15,000 so far, and the total they will need is over $120, 000. So, if you have it in your heart to give please reach out to this directly.

HISTORY

The First May Day Parade

The Annie Malone May Day Parade is one of the oldest and largest parades in the area. In 1910, the first May Day Parade was held. The parade for many years was held in north St. Louis, however as the size of participants and spectators grew, it was moved to Downtown St. Louis.

Today, the parade has grown to be the 2nd largest African-American parade in the country with over 3,500 participants and 30,000 spectators. The parade is our agency’s largest fundraiser with proceeds covering both direct program costs and operating expenses not covered by other sources of revenue.
