Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis welcomed representatives from World Affairs STL and Pakistan to promote cross-cultural understanding and global awareness.

The World Affairs Council of St. Louis

(August 7, 2024—St. Louis, MO) Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis Club members welcome World Affairs STL and Pakistan representatives for a pizza party tomorrow (Thursday), August 8,  5:30 pm—7:00 pm at BGC Herbert Hoover Club, 2901 N. Grand Ave.

The world leaders and families coming to St. Louis are from Pakistan. The collaboration with BGCSTL is themed: “Join us for a fun international pizza party and playtime event!”  BGCSTL members play a crucial role as “dinner diplomats” through exchanging stories and experiences.  The goal is not just a fun event, but also a significant step towards advancing peace and cultural understanding.  Ten BGCSTL families will attend, each playing a significant part in this cultural exchange.

The World Affairs Council of St. Louis is the region’s exclusive partner for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the US Department of State’s premier international exchange program. Through this program, the Council brings an annual average of over 100 current and emerging world leaders to St. Louis to meet with organizations and citizens to exchange professional information and culture. The exchange of culture generally occurs over meals in the homes of St. Louisans, and most visitors have never been to the US before.

Join us for this unique event: BGCSTL Herbert Hoover Club, 2901 N Grand Blvd, St Louis, MO 63107, in the Community Room.

TIME: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm ~ 7:30 pm

Attendees:

  • World Affairs STL attendees: Berenice Morlet, two or three more participants to be confirmed
  • Boys and Girls Clubs: families and staff members
  • Two liaisons/interpreters will accompany the visitors.  However, all representatives reportedly have high English proficiency.
  •

Activity: Families will participate in table and icebreaker activities.

Program:

  • 5:30 Welcome Guests
  • 5:45 pm Remarks by World Affairs STL & BGCSTL Pres. Dr. Flint Fowler
  • 6 pm Activities begin
  • 6:05 pm to 7:00 pm- Food & socializing

The media is invited to cover this event and share the unique cultural exchange it offers. We encourage you to capture the essence of this event and share it with your audience.
