It was a night of elegances and fundraising with a hint of sneakers. Once again East St. Louis’ own Olympic star Jackie Joyner-Kersee has proven why her Foundation is still tops in Illinois.
With a stellar turn out and hosted by the man of the night KSDK Five on Your Side personality Rene Knott. You can bet the night was well entertained and the guest paid close attention to the matters at hand.
There was a special recognition to Richard Mark, Chairman and President Ameren Illinois,
SEQUINS, SUITS & SNEAKERS
It was the only time of year when people put on their ball gowns and lace up their tennis shoes for a good cause. The Tenth Annual Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation Sequins, Suits and Sneakers Gala took place on Oct. 7.
Sorry that you missed this year’s event, but hey drop her a line and be ready to contribute to next year’s event. In addition you can contribute through out the year, for a great cause.
Many world-class athletes bask in fame and fortune, only to fade into obscurity when the spotlight turns to shadow. Fortunately, for the city of East St. Louis, Jackie Joyner-Kersee was cut from a different cloth. Regarded by many as the greatest female athlete of all-time, this Olympic track and field champion chose a path from worldwide stardom to return home with an even greater purpose.
Through tireless work and a commitment to ensuring every youth is given the opportunity to achieve greatness, the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation has grown to become a safe haven and learning-rich environment for area youth. Where the challenges and limitations of one of America’s most notoriously deadly and impoverished cities will never define where a child can go, or who they can become.
Carry out Jackie’s dream to provide youth in East St. Louis the opportunity to Win In Life.
