State legislators discuss the impact of the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to improve the lives of all Americans.

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL) recognizes  yesterday as a monumental moment in political history in the wake of President Joseph R. Biden’s  withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election.

For nearly 50 years, NBCSL has focused on critical issues affecting Black Americans and other  marginalized communities. Several of NBCSL’s resolutions aimed to improve the health, well-being and  prosperity of Black communities were addressed by the Biden-Harris Administration, including ending  racial health disparities in response to COVID-19 (Resolution HHS-21-04), working to ensure medications  remain available to patients without creating greater health and health care disparities (HHS-24-28), and  easing the burden student loan debt on American borrowers (EDU-20-28).

As the Biden-Harris  Administration worked to build a better life for Americans, these NBCSL resolutions influenced the  signing of 10 Executive orders relating to ending the racial disparities stemming from COVID-19, the  redesigning of Medicare Part D with the goal to reduce enrollee out-of-pocket spending by over $7  billion annually, and the cancelling of student debt of more than 30 million borrowers. As a Bipartisan organization, NBCSL prides itself on establishing effective working relationships with  presidential administrations spanning decades and remains committed to collaborating with the Biden Harris Administration and those ahead.

As America moves forward in its 2024 presidential election  process, NBCSL encourages all Americans, regardless of their party affiliation, to participate in the  democratic process and vote.

NBCSL is the nation’s premier organization exclusively serving the interests of African American state legislators. With more than 700 members collectively representing over 60 million Americans, NBCSLserves as a national network, advocate and catalyst for public policy innovation, information exchange, and joint action on critical issues.
