The 2nd Annual Boosting Black Business Brunch and Awards, hosted by Anika Porter, CEO of Lifespiration, is a remarkable celebration and testament of excellence and collaboration in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Held to honor nine distinguished African-American men across various sectors, the event spotlights the contributions of individuals who are shaping the social and economic fabric of the region.
Anika Porter, an inspirational marketing expert, public speaker, author, and podcaster, has made it her mission to foster a spirit of collaboration, love, and support among Black businesses and individuals. Through Lifespiration, she has created a platform that uplifts voices and recognizes the unsung heroes of the community.
The Chief Citizen Awards highlights individuals who have dedicated their efforts to education, mentorship, and public service. Honorees included Julius B. Anthony, Founder and President of St. Louis Black Authors of Children’s Literature; Tracy Hykes, an instructor at Missouri Works Initiative; Kevin Spraggins of iHeart Media; Dr. Fredrick L. Echols, Founder and CEO of Population Health and Social Justice Consulting; and Alandon Pitts, Founder of Mentors in Motion.
The Entrepreneurship Awards honors leaders driving economic innovation and growth. Recipients include Walter L. McKinney Jr., Founding and Managing Partner of The McKinney Group Wealth Management; Malcolm Thompson, President of Tandt Contracting Co.; TII Young, President of Impressive Work Construction; and Talibdin El-Amin, Publisher of The Argus newspaper.
Sponsored by organizations including Dream Builders For Equity, Kingsway Development, Millstone Weber, Lifespiration, The Argus, RMB Mechanical, and McKinney Group Wealth Management, the event was a testament to the power of partnership and community investment.
