As we step into the new year, my commitment remains to highlight news that resonates with our local community. Nonprofit organizations, particularly those in St. Louis that may not attract millions in donations, often go unnoticed. These dedicated individuals are the unsung heroes who tirelessly assist those in need, often using their own resources to make a difference. Today, I had the privilege of meeting with the Women in Alignment, and I’m excited to share their inspiring story.

Women in Alignment

Women In Alignment was divinely inspired and established by God. The journey began with Tamika Andrea, who leads HK Community Action Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to partnering with schools, children’s hospitals, and the greater community to address the needs of children and families in St. Louis and its surrounding areas. Recognizing the impact of collaboration, Tamika reached out to three other remarkable women—CuSandra Wright, Sierra Dean, and Rece Jones—who have also made significant contributions to our youth and community. Together, their shared vision and commitment to effecting real change led to the creation of Women In Alignment.

The mission of Women In Alignment is to heal the fractures within our communities by providing essential emergency items to families in need. We strive to support those who are feeling overwhelmed or in transition, helping them find balance and positivity as they embrace new chapters in their lives. Our primary objective is to ensure that families have access to clothing and daily necessities. If we do not have these items readily available, we guide them to other organizations that can assist.

Since our formation in October 2022, we successfully organized our inaugural community event, “Spirit of Giving.” Despite limited resources and a small number of sponsors, we were able to adopt seven families and surprise them on December 24th with breakfast, clothing, toys, personal items, bags of food, and much more. Our goal is to support families not just during the holiday season, but throughout the entire year, providing clothing, diapers, food, and other essentials.

To further our mission, we collaborate with numerous organizations to ensure that no family is left behind and that they have access to the resources they need for a comfortable life. Upcoming events include our partnership with “Send Relief” to serve Thanksgiving dinner to over 200 unhoused families, and our Annual Spirit of Giving event, where we have joined forces with three other organizations to offer free food, clothing, activities, pictures with Santa, and more.

We are continually seeking volunteers and community advocates to join us in our mission. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of families in need.
