Hmong New Year 2024

Every fall, the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota, transforms into a vibrant hub of cultural celebration as it hosts the annual Hmong New Year. This event, the largest of its kind outside Southeast Asia, offers an immersive experience into the rich traditions of the Hmong community. With a large urban Hmong population, Saint Paul provides an ideal setting for this celebration, drawing thousands of attendees from around the globe.

When & Where

This year, the Minnesota Hmong New Year will take place from November 30 to December 1, 2024, at the Saint Paul RiverCentre, located at 175 Kellogg Boulevard. This central location is easily accessible through various transportation options, including Metro Transit’s light rail and buses, which are recommended over the busy holiday weekend. For those driving, parking is available at various ramps and lots downtown on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets

Tickets for the event are affordable and can be purchased online or at the Xcel Energy Center Box Office. Adult tickets are priced at $12.45 via credit or debit card or $12 cash at the door. Seniors enjoy free entry with a valid ID, and children under 42″ are admitted free of charge, with each child being measured upon entry.

Featured Experiences

The two-day celebration offers a plethora of activities, highlighting traditional Hmong dance, music, and crafts. Attendees can enjoy cultural performances, including the annual Miss Hmong Minnesota Pageant, dance competitions, and singing contests. The event is a showcase of Hmong culture and provides a platform for both local and international artists to perform.

In addition to the performances, the event features numerous vendors selling traditional Hmong crafts, clothing, and food. Visitors can indulge in authentic Hmong cuisine, which includes delightful offerings such as fried sesame balls, bubble tea, curry noodles, and hot sticky rice.
