Discover the shocking truth behind the infamous Clippers scandal and Donald Sterling’s downfall in FX’s gripping series “Clipped”

FX’s “Clipped” dives deep into the tumultuous world of the Los Angeles Clippers, unraveling the infamous scandal that shook the NBA. This six-part limited series, inspired by the ESPN 30 for 30 podcast “The Sterling Affairs,” offers a riveting behind-the-scenes look at the racist remarks of Donald Sterling, the team’s notorious owner, and the subsequent fallout.

Laurence Fishburne shines as Doc Rivers, the steadfast coach brought in to lead the Clippers in 2013. Fishburne’s portrayal of Rivers captures the essence of a man determined to transcend the chaos surrounding him, focusing on his mission to steer the Clippers to their first championship. The ensemble cast, including Jacki Weaver as Shelly Sterling and Ed O’Neill as Donald Sterling, delivers powerful performances that bring the real-life drama to the screen with gripping intensity.

The series dives into the dysfunctional dynamics within the Clippers organization and Sterling’s turbulent marriage. Cleopatra Coleman stands out as V. Stiviano, the controversial personal assistant whose relationship with Sterling becomes a central pivot in the narrative. The conflict between Stiviano and Shelly Sterling adds a compelling layer of intrigue and personal vendetta to the story.

“Clipped” does more than just recount the scandal; it meticulously depicts the impact of Sterling’s remarks on the team, the league, and the broader societal context. The series portrays the Clippers as a team cursed by mismanagement and bad luck, striving to break free from their owner’s toxic legacy. The basketball sequences, infused with tension and hope, underscore the players’ desire to succeed against the odds.

Executive Producers Gina Welch, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson, along with director Kevin Bray, craft a narrative that is both dramatic and thought-provoking. The show’s pacing ensures that each episode reveals new depths of the scandal, maintaining suspense and engagement.

Premiering on June 4 on Hulu, “Clipped” is a must-watch for sports enthusiasts and drama lovers alike. It not only revisits a pivotal moment in NBA history but also explores themes of power, racism, and redemption. The series is a testimonial to the resilience of those who fight for justice and the enduring spirit of a team determined to triumph against adversity.
