Explore the upcoming historic hip hop events presented by Discplus with Grand Puba and Lady of Rage. Learn about DJ Boom’s legacy.

Jeremy Beaver, widely known as DJ Boom, stands as a towering figure in the music industry, particularly within the realm of Hip-Hop. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Beaver’s life and career have been deeply influenced by the phenomenal cultural movements of the 70s and 80s. From graffiti to breakdancing, and the omnipresent boom boxes of his youth, these elements shaped his passion for music and culture.

DJ Boom’s journey began with a profound appreciation for Hip-Hop, sparked by the iconic film Juice. Inspired by the movie’s electrifying DJ scenes, Beaver transitioned from mixing to battling, eventually establishing himself as a pioneering force in the industry. His commitment to the craft led him to become the third person ever to release a break record, marking the beginning of a career that would significantly impact the Hip-Hop scene.

Over the past two decades, DJ Boom has not only been a prominent DJ but also a renowned producer, engineer, and business owner. His studio, Listen Vision, has become the heart of Washington, DC’s music and Hip-Hop culture since 2004. Under his stewardship, Listen Vision has become a cornerstone of the industry, earning acclaim and hosting an impressive roster of artists he has worked with including Jay-Z, Ghostface Killah,KRS-ONE, Lil Wayne, and numerous others. Beaver’s work has earned him over 30 major music awards, cementing his status as a luminary in the field.

DJ Boom’s impact extends beyond the studio. His dedication to preserving and celebrating Hip-Hop history led him to establish The National Hip-Hop Museum in Washington, D.C. Originally a pop-up experience in January 2019, the museum has since become a permanent fixture, celebrating the 40th anniversary of “Rapper’s Delight,” the first commercial Hip-Hop single. The museum showcases an array of Hip-Hop memorabilia, interactive exhibits, and live performances, underscoring Beaver’s commitment to the cultural preservation of Hip-Hop.

This September, DJ Boom is set to host two landmark events celebrating the legacy of Hip-Hop greats. On September 27th, the Lifted Lounge Grand Opening will feature performances by Grand Puba and The Lady of Rage across three dynamic floors, including a dispensary, art gallery, and gaming lounge. The following day, September 28th, will see Grand Puba and The Lady of Rage inducted into the National Hip-Hop Museum’s Hall of Fame. These events, taking place in Washington, D.C., highlight DJ Boom’s dedication to honoring the legends who shaped the genre.

When reflecting on his legacy, DJ Boom expresses a desire for his work to be remembered with genuine respect and integrity. He hopes the Hip-Hop Museum will endure for centuries, serving as a nod to the cultural heroes who have shaped the genre. As DJ Boom continues to influence the music world, his contributions to Hip-Hop and his commitment to preserving its history ensure that his impact will be felt for generations to come.

For those interested in celebrating these milestones, tickets for the events can be purchased on Eventbrite.com. As DJ Boom’s legacy continues to unfold, his influence on Hip-Hop culture remains undeniable, resonating through his innovative work and the Hip Hop community he has helped nurture.
