Team USA secures their fifth consecutive gold medal in an intense match against France at the Olympic basketball finals.

Team USA has struck gold. They have won their fifth straight gold medal after beating France 98-87.
Team USA had a tough game on their hands, as they faced the home team. The reigning Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama and France fought their way to this game with a close win over Germany. They beat Germany 73-69. France had a chance to get gold on their home floor, but USA had other plans. They played together and came away with an impressive win.
Steph Curry led Team USA with 24 points after making eight 3-pointers. Some of Curry’s biggest shots came at the end of the game, including a dagger that helped seal the win. This was Curry’s first Olympic appearance of his career, and he delivered. Team USA also had impressive games from Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and LeBron James. Booker and Durant finished with 15 points and James finished with 14 points, nine assists and six rebounds.
Team USA continues to make history. They have now won 17 gold medals, with their first being in 1936. Since then, USA has had some extremely talented rosters that have led them to gold. They won bronze in 2004, but since then, they have won gold in each of their Olympic showings.
France put up a fight. Victor Wembanyama led them with 26 points, and Guerschon Yabusele finished with 20. They will take home silver, which will be their fourth silver in Olympic history. They won their first silver in 1948, and won the others in 2000 and 2020.
The women’s USA Team also has a chance to make history as well. They will also face France in the gold medal game, which if they win, it would be their eighth consecutive gold medal. With talents like A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart and Jackie Young, they can keep their streak alive.
Curry and company played well in their Olympic run, and are coming home with another gold medal.
