Editor’s note:
The Argus St. Louis is thrilled to announce the return of an inspiring organization dedicated to helping our youth explore the world of technology. While STEAM education is accessible in St. Louis and supported by various local foundations, let’s take a moment to highlight the Northern Virginia-based TSJ Foundation.
STEAM Education is an approach to teaching and learning that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math to guide student inquiry, discussion, and problem-solving.
The Theresa Sondra Jacobs Foundation (TSJ) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization committed to inspiring young minds and facilitating healing experiences through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.
Established in 2017 by Eric Jacobs and his wife, Ruba, the foundation honors the legacy of Eric’s mother, Theresa “Terry” Jacobs—a cherished mother, grandmother, teacher, and artist whose three decades in education profoundly impacted countless students.
The mission of the TSJ Foundation is to deliver accessible and transformative STEAM education that not only informs but also promotes healing. Its flagship initiatives include the EcoCrest Mobile Classroom, which offers a cutting-edge, hands-on learning experience; the Career Quest Discovery Center, designed to help individuals explore career pathways through robotics and personalized coaching; and the ARTS Program, which integrates coding, robotics, and technology to nurture creativity and encourage lifelong learning.
Collectively, these programs aim to spark imagination, inspire innovation, and create a pathway to a world of opportunities.
The Theresa Sondra Jacobs Foundation (TSJ) has had an incredible year filled with events that brought our unique approach to STEAM education to communities far and wide. From exciting science festivals to themed celebrations, each event was designed to inspire curiosity, ignite learning, and leave a lasting impact on participants. Here’s a recap of our recent activities:
IGFX Exhibit at COSI Science Festival (May 2024)
In May, we had the honor of showcasing the IGFX Exhibit at the COSI Science Festival. This interactive experience allowed attendees to explore immersive graphics, cutting-edge technology, and the endless possibilities within STEAM fields. Our exhibit brought STEAM education to life, captivating participants with live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and unique learning experiences.
