The tornado, which touched down in the Delmar and Kingshighway neighborhoods—areas severely impacted—has caused widespread destruction across the city. Our station’s property, located within the affected zone, sustained damage; however, it was utilized as a vital hub for disaster response efforts. Roberts Companies, our ownership team, transformed our location into a command center, coordinating law enforcement, disaster relief initiatives, and serving as the venue for the Mayor’s press conferences. During this crisis, our dedicated team of DJs and staff worked tirelessly around the clock—distributing food, broadcasting critical information, providing security, and assisting neighbors with cleanup efforts.

Our station was present alongside every major TV news outlet covering the incident. Foxy 106.9 demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the community by broadcasting live after the press conference, ensuring that local leaders’ messages reached residents directly. We addressed urgent community concerns including power restoration, food and shelter availability, and security issues—delivering accurate, timely, and potentially lifesaving information.
**The Power of Radio in Times of Crisis**
In moments like these, radio proves to be an essential lifeline. It is more than entertainment— it is a critical tool in emergency response. Radio provides instant access to vital information, coordinates rescue efforts, and can save lives. It is free, accessible, and immediate—especially crucial for those without internet or mobile connectivity. As the Missouri Broadcasters Association has pledged, broadcasters will remain dedicated to keeping radio on, delivering hope and help when our community needs it most.
**A Message from Program Director Don “DJ Wrekk-1” Williams**
*”As the people’s station, we do more than just broadcast — we stand with our community. I haven’t slept or showered in three days. When it comes to our community, we are willing to break format and do whatever it takes to address the concerns of the community. That’s what we do. Radio isn’t just words — it’s life-saving, life-changing, and absolutely essential.”*
Our entire team, along with Roberts Companies and other departments, continues to work tirelessly behind the scenes to serve and protect our community during this crisis. We remain committed to being there for St. Louis, today and every day.
