The Department of Social Services is offering free Certified Peer Specialist training weeks this fall. Eligible individuals can receive a special code for the training, provided by the department.

The Department of Social Services is providing funding for three Certified Peer Specialist training weeks to be held this fall. If you’re eligible, you can get a special code that lets you take the training for free! The free training weeks are scheduled for the following dates:
- October 28-November 1
- November 11-15
- December 9-13.
The following are the qualifications for the free training:
1. You have at least a high school level education.
2. You have lived experience with a behavioral health disorder (substance use disorder, mental health disorder or co-occurring).

We understand that attending CPS training for free is a great opportunity and you might be tempted to register “on the chance” that you will be able to attend. We ask that before registering, you are COMMITTED to attending. The space in these classes is limited. If you register, you are occupying one of those limited seats and are expected to attend. After you are registered, if you find out you will not be able to attend please contact Kim so that you can be removed from the class and that seat can be used by someone else.

The Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health, recognizes the Missouri Credentialing Board as the sole source for certified peer credentials (Certified Peer Specialist, Family Support Provider, Youth Peer Specialist, and Certified Reciprocal Peer Recovery). No other credentialing sources will be recognized as meeting the requirements for peers working in DBH certified and contracted programs.
The first question will be? Do you have access to technology to be on Zoom WITH the camera Feature?**These trainings are a combination of Zoom meetings and watching videos. You must have technology available to be on Zoom with the camera feature so you can be seen and interact with the trainers and other participants.
