Welcoming a new baby into your family is a time of immense joy and learning. As a parent or caregiver, your top priority is ensuring your little one is safe, especially while they sleep.# Keeping Your Baby Safe: Join Our Infant Safe Sleep Classes

Welcoming a new baby into your family is a time of immense joy and learning. As a parent or caregiver, your top priority is ensuring your little one is safe, especially while they sleep. To support you, the Kansas City Health Department’s Maternal and Child Health Program warmly invites you to our free Infant Safe Sleep Classes. We are here to provide you with the knowledge and resources to create a secure sleep environment for your baby.

Why Safe Sleep Matters

Creating a safe sleep space is one of the most effective ways to protect your infant from sleep-related risks. Practices like placing a baby on their back to sleep, using a firm sleep surface, and keeping the crib free of soft bedding can significantly reduce the chances of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related dangers. Our classes are designed to give you clear, practical guidance on these essential practices, empowering you to feel confident in your baby’s care routine.

Remember the ABCs of safe sleep: Alone on their Back in a Crib. This simple guideline is a cornerstone of infant safety. Babies sleep safest when they are on their backs in their own designated sleep space, like a crib or a Pack ‘n Play, without any loose blankets, pillows, or toys.

What You’ll Learn at Our Classes

Our Infant Safe Sleep Classes offer a supportive and educational environment for parents and caregivers in Kansas City, Missouri. We will walk you through the most current recommendations for infant sleep safety. You will learn how to set up a safe crib, understand the risks associated with co-sleeping, and get answers to your most pressing questions from our knowledgeable staff.

Receive a Free Pack ‘n Play

We believe every family should have access to a safe sleep space for their infant. As part of our commitment to the community, attendees of our class will receive a free Pack ‘n Play, while supplies last. This provides you with a secure and portable sleep environment for your baby, ensuring they have a safe place to rest at home or on the go.

Class Schedule and Location

Join us and take a vital step in protecting your child. Our classes are easy to fit into your schedule.
