Legislative Priorities for the Upcoming Session
As pre-filing for the next legislative session begins on December 1st, Rep. Collins is focused on shaping legislation that addresses the real needs of St. Louis. A key priority is strengthening the Missouri Housing Trust Fund to expand access to affordable housing and support innovative neighborhood projects. This commitment reflects her year-round dedication to ensuring St. Louis neighborhoods are seen, supported, and celebrated.
Community Events and Volunteer Opportunities
Annual 77th District Christmas Extravaganza
The holiday season can be a challenging time for many families in St. Louis, with some facing tough choices between basic necessities and holiday celebrations. To address this, the Annual 77th District Christmas Extravaganza was created as a reflection of collective care and community strength.
Last year, the event served over 700 families, providing not just material support but also dignity, joy, and a sense of belonging. Volunteers are needed for this year’s event on December 20th to help continue this impactful tradition. Sign up to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of local families.

Nominate a Mental Health Champion
The Missouri Foundation for Health is accepting nominations for individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders. Winners will receive recognition and a cash prize. Nominations close on November 21st, 2025.
Legislative Updates
Gov. Kehoe’s Tax Proposal
Governor Mike Kehoe has proposed a constitutional amendment to eliminate state income taxes, which currently account for over 70% of Missouri’s general revenue. Critics argue that replacing this revenue with higher sales taxes would disproportionately burden working Missourians, especially during a time of high inflation. The proposal is expected to be a key topic in the 2026 legislative session.
Congressional Redistricting Cases
Two lawsuits related to Missouri’s congressional redistricting are under review in Cole County. One challenges the constitutionality of mid-decade redistricting, while the other addresses Secretary of State Denny Hoskins’ handling of a referendum petition. Decisions are expected in December, with appeals likely to follow.

From legislative priorities to community-driven initiatives, the 77th District is buzzing with activity. Whether it’s volunteering for the Christmas Extravaganza, applying for grants, or engaging in public comment, there are numerous ways to get involved and make a difference.
