Cabral points out that there has been “a 938 percent spike in searches, as shown on Google Trends, which reinforces the growing career opportunities and the efforts being made by companies, both of whom are in a race to position themselves in the metaverse.”
Cabral (April 23, 2022) quotes Emergen Research which states “the global metaverse industry was valued at $47.69 Bn in 2020 and is projected to hit $828.95 Bn in 2028, growing at a compound annual rate of 43.3 percent.”
Cabral (January 17, 2022) states that “the metaverse is expected to transform many existing jobs to new descriptions, including research scientist, planner, development manager, advertisement blocker, storyteller, and even unpaid intern and developer.”
Jones (April 2022) mentions that “two digital components essential to the metaverse are Augmented reality (AR) which is an enhanced version of the actual physical world using sound and other digital visual elements, and Virtual Reality (VR) is an environment artificially generated through a computer that appears to be authentic.”
Vird (December 7, 2021) mentions, “foundation of the metaverse is about digital human interaction. It’s about people sharing a virtual universe.” Investopedia (2022), “blockchain guarantees the fidelity and security of a record of data and generates trust without the need for a trusted third party.”
News Desk (May 5, 2022) mentions, “Bankless Times said future jobs will have two broad areas – the new ones to be created for the design, building, and maintenance of the metaverse, and those for existing jobs – such as marketers, legal personnel, customer service agents and retailers – who will begin incorporating the technology into their organizations and working lives.”
Currently, most metaverse jobs are being listed for familiar roles but will focus on different angles and strategies. For example, candidates for the new role development may be in marketing, sales, operations, and engineering to work in fintech-related technologies, including cryptocurrencies.
