KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – KCTV5 has partnered with a local organization to raise awareness for breast cancer research and programs of the American Cancer Society.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a celebration of courage and hope, a movement uniting communities to end breast cancer.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk will take place on Oct. 26 at Crown Center.

KCTV5 anchors Carolyn Long and Sharon Chen will emcee the event.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the walk starts at 9 a.m.

Is there a cost to register?

No! This event is free to register for. Any fundraising benefits the breast cancer research and programs of the American Cancer Society and is appreciated.

How long is the walk?

The full route is around 3 miles with a half-mile option for those who do not wish to walk 3 miles.

Where do I park?

Parking is available in all Crown Center lots excluding the hotel lots.

Do I need to check in on the day of the walk?

You do not need to check in unless you have not registered or you have money to turn in.

Can I turn in money at the walk?

Yes! You can turn in any funds at the Check-In tent.

Do I get a T-shirt for registering?

We do not provide T-shirts for participants but merchandise is available for purchase on-site and at the ACS E-Store. Survivors do receive a free t-shirt with a redemption email sent to them to redeem that online.

How do I volunteer for this event?

You can visit our volunteer community to sign up for Day of Event Volunteer Opportunities!

Can my company sponsor the walk?

Yes! Contact Ashton Wells (ashton.wells@cancer.org) for more information on sponsorship.

Do I have to form a team or can I come on my own?

Teams are not required to participate but are a great way for groups to participate and for you to invite your friends/family/coworkers to walk with you.
