KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A nonprofit that helps those in Kansas City’s LGBTQ+ community find stable housing has now found a new home of its own.

Our Spot KC, a local nonprofit focused on the eradication of homelessness in the LGBTQ+ community, announced that it had found a new spot to call home. Located in the heart of the Marlborough East Neighborhood, the reimagined former Center Annex School Building, off 63rd and Swope Pkwy., will stand as a resource hub and safe haven.

More than just a physical space, the organization indicated that the new space would offer solace, support and a sense of belonging. Led by Star Palmer, the project aims to create a safe and welcoming environment.

Our Spot KC noted that the hub will serve as the heart of operations to provide vital services and programs which include:

  • Lion House – a transitional and rapid rehousing program that fights homelessness
  • Navigation Center – a hub for resources for the LGBTQ+ community
  • Outreach on Wheels – a fresh meal delivery service that also provides health resources via a mobile project
  • Professional Training & Technical Assistance
  • Crisis Response – emergency wrap-around services

The organization said the Kansas City Center for Inclusion is set to close the 39th St. location and join the family. The unification will allow life-changing services to be offered at the Navigation Center.

While the grand opening is on the horizon, Our Spot KC said there is still work to be done. Donations can be made HERE while word of mouth is equally as valuable.
