Meet the medical student using TikTok to raise awareness and challenge racial bias in healthcare.

Joel Bervell, a medical influencer, is challenging racism in health care, one TikTok at a time.

Joel Bervell, who graduated from Yale University and was one of the first Black medical students at Washington State University, is currently a student of orthopedic surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and will receive his degree there in 2024. On TikTok, Joel Bervell is known as the “Medical Mythbuster,” where he talks about racial inequities in health care.
