Missouri’s marijuana market hit a new milestone in March, achieving the highest single-month recreational sales since legalization. Discover the latest industry insights from Greenway Magazine.

I subscribe to Greenway Magazine not because I’m a hardcore cannabis enthusiast, but because I find it fascinating how much money the industry generates. I’ve never been a big fan of joints or weed paraphernalia, but cannabis has played a significant role in my life—seems like everyone I’ve ever been involved with has either sold marijuana or enjoyed it.

But I don’t want to dwell on that. Instead, let me share how Missouri is cashing in on the cannabis boom, so to speak. According to Greenway Magazine, Missouri’s marijuana market hit a new milestone in March, recording the highest single-month recreational sales since adult-use legalization. It marked a strong start to the year for the state’s cannabis industry.

That’s quite a puff of success, so let’s dive deeper into the story by Shelby King and Brandon Dunn.

The March total represents a 12.6% increase over February 2025’s $116.23 million, and a 4.95% jump year-over-year from March 2024’s $124.71 million sales figure, signaling both short-term growth and long-term expansion. Combined retail sales across the state averaged $4.22 million per day during the month, up from $4.02 million in March 2024.

That makes March 2025 the third-highest performing month based on daily sales in Missouri’s history.

With $369.99 million in sales through the first quarter of 2025, Missouri’s marijuana market has outpaced 2024’s Q1 performance by more than $22 million, or 6.36%, when the state reported $347.87 million through the end of March. Year-to-date growth has come without relying on single-event spikes or major holiday surges, indicating broader consumer stability and increased access statewide.

Each of the first three months of 2025 has outperformed its respective 2024 monthly total:

Jan 2025: $122.88 million (up from $109.76 million in Jan 2024)

Feb 2025: $116.23 million (up from $113.40 million in Feb 2024)

Mar 2025: $130.88 million (up from $124.71 million in Mar 2024)

This streak of sustained growth follows a year of success in 2024, during which statewide totals were relatively consistent for most of the year and showed increased stability over the launch of adult use sales in 2023. These figures show a consistent month-over-month increase in average daily sales, despite seasonal weather impacts and the fewer days in February. February’s performance was particularly notable as it surpassed January’s daily average despite winter storms that caused temporary closures and disrupted consumer access in several regions. Missouri’s 2025 start shows significant signs of renewed vigor in the market with substantial growth in each of the months in the first quarter and total sales up over 6%.

Daily Sales Avergaes 2025

  • Jan 2025: $3.96 million
  • Feb 2025: $4.15 million
  • Mar 2025: $4.22 million

One notable data point: March 2025 marks the highest monthly total for adult use marijuana sales in Missouri history, surpassing previous recreational peaks set during launch months in early 2023 and late-year holiday periods. The upward trend began in January, which posted an 11.95% increase over January 2024, followed by February’s 6.16% daily sales average increase over February 2024, and continuing through March. This pattern of sustained monthly and daily average growth positions Missouri for a potentially record-setting year, with Q1 laying a strong foundation for the remainder of 2025.

Looking ahead, market participants will be watching whether this growth trend holds through the typically slower months of April and May. However, the early data from 2025 puts Missouri on pace for another record-setting sales year, potentially exceeding the $1.6 billion sold in 2024 if the current momentum continues.

Missouri’s cumulative marijuana sales now sit at $3.77 billion, with projections suggesting that total could reach or exceed $5 billion by mid-2026 if current trends persist.

With dispensaries refining operations, manufacturers introducing more diverse products, and consumers demonstrating stable purchasing patterns, Missouri continues to cement its place as one of the leading cannabis markets in the country.

As the state enters the second quarter, all eyes are on whether this early growth trajectory will continue through traditionally slower spring and summer months. If current trends hold, Missouri’s cannabis industry could be on pace to break annual sales records for a third straight year.

Now, that you believe what I was saying, who is ready to help me get in the industry. No I am not joking. To subscribe and get more news of cannabis interest click here.
