When: August 9-11, 2024

What: “Purple Reign” – the 2024 MO WPC Convention

Where: Hampton Inn and Suites

1225 Fellows Place Columbia, MO 65201

(Note: President Malone will be traveling through St. Louis and President McGhaw-Ward lives in St. Louis, so interviews can be arranged in either city)

Background: When the Supreme Court of the U.S. overturned Roe v Wade in June 2022 with their Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, an explosion of political energy was released. Missourians for Constitutional Freedom, including members of MO WPC, coordinated collection of the signatures of more than 380,000 registered voters, far more than the approximately 172,000 needed to put abortion access on the November 5 ballot.

Energy continues to build as Missourians have the opportunity to elect Missouri’s first female governor (Rep. Crystal Quade, depending on the outcome of the August 6 Primary Election) and to contribute to the election of the first female U.S. President, current Vice President Kamala Harris. (Quade and Harris have been formally endorsed by MO WPC.) The rage that has been engendered by attacks on Harris’ racial/ethnic identity and being disrespectfully called a “D.E.I. Hire” and offensive remarks about “Black jobs” is acting as fuel to generate a massive voter turnout in November. Political pundits are starting to question whether “movement” might not be a more accurate label for Harris’ candidacy than “campaign.”
From educational panels to skills training to social times and awards ceremonies, the MO WPC “Purple Reign” Convention promises to be a turning point in Missouri politics. Trailblazers from the past will be celebrated, and an Ambassadors program will focus on empowering 18-25 year old pro-choice people. Find the full agenda HERE.
