Missouri Senator Steven Roberts: A New Chapter in State Political Leadership
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Steven Roberts, D-St. Louis, has been elected by his peers to serve as the assistant minority floor leader for the upcoming 2025 legislative session in the Missouri Senate. Senator Roberts, who has represented Missouri’s 5th District since 2021, was selected by his colleagues during the Minority Caucus’ leadership elections held on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024.
“It has been a great honor to serve in Senate leadership as the minority whip over the past four years,” said Sen. Roberts. “In this new role as assistant minority floor leader, I will continue to work tirelessly for the people of our district and all Missourians. I’m committed to advocating for policies that create economic opportunity, strengthen our schools and protect the most vulnerable communities. I look forward to the challenges ahead and working with my colleagues across the aisle to advance the priorities that matter most to our constituents.”
Senator Roberts was re-elected to represent the 5th District on Nov. 5, 2024. He was first elected to the Missouri Senate in 2020.
As assistant minority floor leader, Sen. Roberts will play a critical role in advancing the minority party agenda in the Missouri Senate, helping to guide legislative priorities, coordinate strategy and ensure the voices of underserved communities are heard at the Capitol.
