St. Louis CITY SC is gearing up for a Western Conference showdown against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at CITYPARK on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT. Fans can catch the action live on MLS Season Pass via the Apple TV app or tune in to the English radio broadcast on KYKY Y98.1 FM, with Spanish coverage available on KXOK 102.9 FM.
CITY SC will be looking to bounce back following a defeat in their last match against Colorado. Despite the setback, Missouri-native John Klein scored his first MLS goal off a pinpoint cross from Jay Reid who notched his second assist of the MLS season. Both Reid and Klein recently secured first team contracts from CITY2 after impressing in their loan stints earlier in the season.
In their last home fixture, St. Louis CITY SC clinched a 2-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes, with goals from Eduard Löwen and Hosei Kijima, each assisted by Indiana Vassilev. St. Louis has a 15-7-7 home record with 54 goals scored and 45 assists in 29 MLS regular season matches.
This upcoming match marks the fourth encounter between the two sides, with Vancouver currently holding a 2-1-0 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, CITY SC fell 4-3 to Vancouver, however Njabulo Blom and Nökkvi Thórisson both scored their first goals of the season. In the lone CITYPARK meeting between St. Louis and Vancouver, CITY SC secured a dominant 3-0 victory.
In their previous fixtures, St. Louis have struck early against the Whitecaps, scoring four first-half goals (three within the initial 15 minutes). On the other hand, Vancouver has capitalized late, scoring seven of their eight goals in the second half (four in the final 15 minutes).
Vancouver heads into this match following a 1-1 draw against Montreal, holding a 5-4-3 away record with 17 goals scored and 16 conceded. The Whitecaps are currently sixth in the western conference with a 9-7-5 overall record.
