I am a registered member with AARP, and I can’t tell you how much resources are available for people like me and you. And if you are like me, you care about people who are not fortunate enough to eat when they want.

So, if you can give, please support AARP’s goal to help those suffering and just to put food on their table. I have an elder parent, and she is blessed to have my help, some are not so lucky. Editor-Argus.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps ensure seniors with low income can afford healthy food. But an alarming 63% of seniors who qualify for SNAP miss out on its benefits. On top of that, this month, a pandemic-era boost to SNAP benefits expires in many states.

The reduction in benefits could put more seniors at risk of food insecurity and have ripple effects: If SNAP recipients decide to drop out due to the benefit decreases, they may lose out on automatic eligibility for other benefits critical to their health and economic stability.

AARP Foundation programs to help seniors enroll and participate in SNAP and improve financial security are more important than ever. And today, I’m asking for your help.

You can help us reach our $250,000 Spring Virtual Food Drive goal and make a difference in the lives of older adults in need. Please make a tax-deductible gift of any amount today to help seniors who are struggling to make ends meet.

About 38 million older adults are living at or near the poverty line and nearly 9.5 million adults over the age of 50 are struggling to afford food. With your voluntary support, AARP Foundation, AARP’s charitable affiliate, will continue to work to reach seniors who are struggling to put food on the table and make ends meet.
Your donation will help support community-based organizations promoting food security among seniors, especially by increasing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) enrollment. SNAP helps individuals and families with low income access nutritious food and can make huge strides in eliminating the epidemic of senior hunger.
Your support at this critical time will make a significant difference.
