About Mers Goodwill

MERS Goodwill is a non-profit organization and funds a significant number of its programs through the generous donations of others. Whether it’s monetary, auto, or clothing donations to one of our retail locations, be assured that your generous contributions are being utilized to fuel and enhance the community. Also, if you shop at any of our MERS Goodwill retail locations, the proceeds from your purchases also go towards our mission.

MERS Goodwill is also the grateful beneficiary of generous gifts from both the United Way of Greater St. Louis and the Jewish Federation of St. Louis. Partnering with these organizations enables us to better serve our community.

Changing lives through the power of work

MERS Goodwill provides a variety of programs and services to help support this mission. Some of the many programs and services offered are career counseling, skills training, education and literacy programs, employment services, and more.

Our organization also provides job opportunities through the Custodial and Business Contracts Division. Those who are hired through the MERS Goodwill Custodial and Business Contracts Division become well-trained and reliable workers. MERS Goodwill is then able to better serve local businesses with services like office cleaning, snow removal, paper processing, and more. The revenue from these services then goes back into more training and education programs, so that we can continue to provide reliable, quality contracted business services.

Why Should You Choose MERS Goodwill for Services?

The primary focus and success of MERS Goodwill’s employment and rehabilitation programs is in our ability to prepare people for the world of work. To be successful on a job involves having sufficient self-esteem and self-confidence, meeting the challenges of one’s personal life and being able to deal with the complexities of interpersonal relationships with co-workers and supervisors, as well as being able to perform the actual work tasks. MERS Goodwill provides the opportunity to work toward the goals needed to achieve the maximum level of productivity in one’s personal life and employment. Below is a list of services we offer. Click on a service to see a description.

Donate

When you donate and recycle your unneeded items to Goodwill, we make them available to your neighbors at affordable prices. The revenue that our 45 stores and attended donation centers earn is then invested in our community through a variety of programs and services including skills training courses and employment programs for those with disabilities or economic disadvantages. You can be confident that your donation to Goodwill is making a difference to improve the life of someone in your community!

Accepted & Not Accepted Items

It’s hard for us to say “No Thank You” to a donation when our operating funds are realized through the sale of donated goods. However, some items are refused for very good reasons:  Items may may not be recyclable or contain hazardous waste and others cost more to transport, repair or refurbish than they can be sold for in our stores.

Our store managers may decline a donation if, in their judgment, it is not in clean and sellable condition.
