Examining the Unyielding Divisiveness and Rhetoric of the Republican Party
There are a lot of kindly, well-intentioned folks in this country.
People who are willing to forgive and forget the UNPRECEDENTED OBSTRUCTIONISM which the Republican Party has perpetrated for the past four years.
People who are willing to overlook the CYNICAL USE of the so-called “Southern Strategy” by the GOP in order to garner a larger percentage of a SHRINKING white male electorate — to the DISADVANTAGE of WOMEN, NON-WHITE AMERICAN CITIZENS, LGBT CITIZENS, NON-CHRISTIAN PEOPLE OF FAITH, and OTHER demographics which they’ve chosen to ignore and alienate. These people are forgiving, patient, and understanding.
I’m NOT one of them.
I will NEVER FORGET the racist, hate-filled rhetoric directed at a man whose ONLY transgression was “BEING ELECTED WHILE BLACK”. I will NEVER FORGET how many times he HELD OUT HIS HAND IN COMPROMISE (if not friendship), only to have it SLAPPED DOWN in contempt and disrespect.
I will NEVER FORGET how the Republican Party STOKED THE FLAMES of divisiveness using LIES, UNSUBSTANTIATED INNUENDO, MEANINGLESS TALKING POINTS, and sheer BAD FAITH. I will NEVER FORGET. EVER.
I’m DEFINITELY NOT one of them.
So, I’ll SCOFF SCORNFULLY when Republicans try to pretend they ACTUALLY CARE about the rest of us! I’ll LAUGH MIRTHLESSLY when conservatives try to revive the LIE of “compassionate conservatism”.
I’ll CHUCKLE DERISIVELY when The GOP swears on a stack of bibles that they can be trusted with SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, MEDICAID, and other elements of The Social Safety Net.
THEY WENT CRAZY when JOE BIDEN, Barack Hussein Obama’s vice president, got elected President of the United States. I’ll NEITHER FORGET nor FORGIVE their years-long TEMPER TANTRUM and their RACIST DOG-WHISTLE RHETORIC.
I’ll NEVER FORGET how they chose MONEY and POWER over HONOR and VIRTUE. How they chose RICH, SCABBY FAT CATS over ordinary tax payers and voters like ME and YOU. How they chose VOTER SUPPRESSION, VOTER INTIMIDATION, and VOTER FRAUD over honesty and fairness.
I’m NOT one to turn a blind eye to their MANIFOLD WICKEDNESS. I won’t IGNORE the accusations against President Obama’s VALUES and MORALITY, and how they DELIBERATELY cast him as some sort of UNWORTHY OTHER from another culture, despite EVERY PROOF to the contrary.
I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW HATEFUL AND UNREPENTANT the Republican Party has been since 2008. As far as I’m concerned, THEY WILL ALWAYS BE THE ENEMY.
To me, the only GOOD REPUBLICAN is now, and will always be an UN-ELECTED REPUBLICAN. And before ANYONE READING THIS decides to criticize me for MY attitude, remember THIS: I DIDN’T START THIS WAR… but I’m going to do my best to be THE LAST MAN STANDING.
