Uncover the true story of the Alamo and the voices history forgot.

They say that the story of The Alamo is about the struggle for freedom.

But freedom for WHO?Texas independence was never meant for everyone –particularly the enslaved Africans the Texans were fighting to keep. It seems that Mexico wasn’t the villain of the story after all…

Rather, the villainy lies with the Southerners who’d migrated to Texas — bringing their enslaved Africans with them.

Stolen African lives, it seems, were highly transportable — like so much luggage (luggage which toiled from sun-up to sundown, with no rights or legal protection ).

So when you ‘Remember the Alamo’, think about the many lives lost there that were captives of corrupt Southern culture — a culture that brought them into conflict with the Republic of Mexico — who had ended slavery long before that fateful battle.

Summary:

We all know the legend of the Alamo, but how much of what we remember is actually true? This article peels back the layers of myth to reveal a more nuanced story, giving voice to perspectives that often go unheard—particularly those of Mexicans and Tejanos. Instead of the simple tale of heroic defenders against invaders, we get a look at the real motivations behind the battle, including struggles over land, identity, and slavery.

By challenging the traditional heroic narrative, the story invites us to reconsider not just the Alamo but how history is written and remembered. It’s a reminder that history is shaped by the stories we choose to tell—and forget. So, if you’re ready to rethink one of America’s most iconic moments, dive into this fresh take that promises to change the way you see the past.
