The Saint Louis Public Schools Board of Education has officially appointed Dr. Millicent Borishade as the new superintendent and welcomed Ben Conover as a new board member.

The Board of Education of the City of Saint Louis has voted to name Dr. Millicent Borishade as Superintendent of Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS). In a 4-1 vote, the Board affirmed its confidence in Dr. Borishade, who has served as interim Superintendent since July 2024, guiding the district through key initiatives and challenges. The vote was held during a special meeting on Tuesday, February 18th.
Board President Antoinette “Toni” Cousins praised Dr. Borishade’s leadership and commitment to SLPS students, families, and staff.

“Dr. Borishade has demonstrated strong, thoughtful leadership during her time as Interim Superintendent. Her focus on student achievement, operational excellence, and building strong community partnerships has been invaluable. We’re excited to continue working with her as she leads SLPS forward.”
To discuss this pivotal leadership transition, SLPS will host a press conference on Tuesday, February 25 at 8:30 AM at Meramec Elementary School (2745 Meramec St, St. Louis, MO 63118).
One of Dr. Borishade’s top priorities as Superintendent will be overseeing the district’s transition to a new transportation provider, Zum, for the 2025-26 school year. She is scheduled to meet with Zum CEO on Monday, February 24th.
Board of Education Welcomes New Member Ben Conover

In addition to the Superintendent appointment, the Board also voted 4-1 to appoint Ben Conover to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Education. The vacancy, which was created in January, has now been filled, restoring the Board to its full seven-member capacity. Conover will be officially sworn in at the SAINT LOUIS PUBLIC SCHOOLS | 801 N. 11th St. | St. Louis, MO 63101 | 314-231-3720 next Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, March 11 at Central Office (801 N. 11th Street).
Dr. Borishade expressed enthusiasm about Conover’s appointment, stating: “Having a full board is critical to the work we do as a district. I’m looking forward to working with Mr. Conover and the entire Board as we continue to focus on what’s best for our students, schools, and community.”
