Gymnastics icon Simone Biles continues to etch her name into Olympic history at the 2024 Paris Games. With Team USA’s gold-medal finish in the women’s team event, she now has more Olympic medals than any other American gymnast in history.

Previously, she was tied with Shannon Miller, who reached seven Olympic medals. Today, Biles’ new hardware brought her to eight total Olympic medals, with more women’s artistic gymnastics events to go. Biles still has the chance to win four more medals in the individual events of beam, floor, vault and all-around.

During the team event, Biles led Team USA to their first gold medal in the women’s gymnastics team event since 2016. The team victory was highlighted by Biles’ stunning floor routine, which featured her signature moves, the Biles I and Biles II. Despite minor setbacks, such as stepping out of bounds twice, Biles scored a remarkable 14.666, ensuring the team’s top podium finish. Her performance was complimented by excellent performances from her teammates, Suni Lee, Jade Carey, and Jordan Chiles.

Her participation in Paris marks her third Olympic appearance. Previously, at the Rio 2016 Olympics, Biles won four gold medals and a bronze, while in Tokyo, she added a silver and a bronze to her collection despite competing in a limited capacity due to her mental health struggles.
