St. Louis Fire Department presents Emergency Medical Services Chief Paramedic Valerie Porter.
Chief Porter began her career as an Emergency Medical Technician with St. Louis City under Health and Hospital in 1981, while attending St. Louis University for Paramedicine. She has elevated through the ranks during her tenure, serving as the Acting Emergency Medical Services Deputy Chief from 2001 until her promotion, as the first African American female Chief Paramedic in 2013.
Chief Porter has extensive education in emergency medicine, and has received numerous honors, including The Lifetime Achievement Award from The Firefighter’s Institute for Racial Equality.
