The Grand New SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, which opened September 1, 2020, houses sophisticated technology and design that supports and elevates our academic-medical partnership with the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Private inpatient rooms and convenient outpatient services will better serve diverse patient and family needs.
Our new Emergency Room and Level I Trauma Center is three times larger, to meet the growing critical care needs of 75 outlying partner clinics and nearly 50,000 patients annually, within a 250-mile radius across Missouri and Illinois.
As the largest Medicaid service provider in Missouri, we are committed to serving our most vulnerable populations while operating as a destination hospital where patients choose premier treatment and specialized care. Last year, SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital provided more than $80 million in charity care and community benefit, including prevention and wellness programs.

Center for Specialized Medicine (CSM)
The new SLU Hospital features 14 operating rooms and 3 hybrid operating rooms located on the Interventional Platform on Level 1, as well as MRI and CT rooms, labs, procedure rooms, the PACU and a 16-room short stay unit. Two of the ORs have been specially designed for living organ donation, featuring a sterile anteroom for more efficient transfer between the living donor and the recipient.
