Examining the pivotal issues and candidate positions in the St. Louis mayoral race.

On February 27th, St. Louis voters gathered at Holy Cross Church in the 13th Ward for a spirited Mayoral Forum. Hosted to educate and empower the community, the forum provided a platform for residents to learn about their candidates for Mayor and Comptroller and discuss their expectations for leadership. Moderated by Princess Stormm, an on-air personality from Hot 104.1, the event encouraged attendees to take notes, ask questions, and learn how to hold public officials accountable.
The forum featured three candidates vying for the mayoral seat. Current Mayor Tishaura Jones, who is seeking re-election, emphasized her accomplishments during her term, including efforts to address public safety and economic inequality. Jones, who previously served as St. Louis Treasurer and a state representative, highlighted her focus on long-term solutions for the city.
Michael Butler, currently serving as St. Louis Recorder of Deeds, shared his vision for the city rooted in his experience as the former Missouri Democratic Party chair and state representative. Butler focused on policies around transparency and innovation to drive progress in St. Louis.
Andrew Jones, an energy executive and experienced mayoral candidate, offered a business-oriented perspective. He discussed plans to prioritize economic development and operational efficiency to improve city services.
The forum also welcomed discussions for the Comptroller race between incumbent Darlene Green and challenger Donna Baringer. Both candidates addressed their vision for managing the city’s finances, emphasizing fiscal responsibility and efficient budget management.
The event fostered an open dialogue about key issues, equipping attendees with resources to make informed decisions. With Election Day fast approaching, the forum underscored the importance of civic engagement in shaping the future of St. Louis.
