The 2024 WNBA All-Star weekend in Phoenix was a successful event, and in the big game, Team WNBA defeated Team USA 117-109. Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale took home the All-Star MVP (the second of her career) after scoring 34 points. She scored all of her points in the second half. Shortly after, Team USA geared up for their Olympic journey.

The All-Star event turned out well, and recently, the league announced the location of the 2025 All-Star weekend. The event will be held in Indianapolis. This will be the first time that the WNBA has held All-Star in Indianapolis, and it may be the ideal time. The Indiana Fever are an up and coming team that received the first pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. They used that pick to draft college basketball phenom Caitlin Clark, who has since averaged 17.1 points, 8.2 assists and 5.8 rebounds. The Fever also have reigning Rookie of the Year, Aliyah Boston. With those two players, the Fever are on the right track and are looking to build a team of the future.

“We are excited to bring AT&T WNBA All-Star to Indiana for the first time,” WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said. “The city of Indianapolis and the entire state of Indiana have such an incredible and enduring passion for the game of basketball, making the region the perfect host to celebrate the WNBA and the game’s greatest stars.”

The weekend will kick off with the 3-point and skills competitions on July 18. The game will be held the following day.

The NBA held their 2024 All-Star weekend in Indianapolis. That event was also a success, despite controversy around the high scoring All-Star game. This WNBA’s All-Star could be another successful event, and in the future, Indianapolis’ Gainbridge Fieldhouse will host the 2028 women’s Final Four.
