n celebration of Veterans Day on Monday, Saint Louis Sam’s Club #8125 presented a donation of care packages and holiday food items – including a Thanksgiving turkey, non-perishable side dishes, pumpkin pie, clothing items, hygiene supplies and more – to five residents currently living in the Veterans Community Project (VCP) St. Louis village.
Each individual also received a $200 gift card that can be redeemed at Walmart and Sam’s Club stores and online. The VCP campus, which is located on a nearly four-acre property in the heart of the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood, contains 50 tiny houses made available for veterans experiencing homelessness, as well as an Outreach Center to provide walk-in support services for any veteran in the St. Louis metro area.
The goal of the village is to offer homeless veterans temporary housing where they can be connected with services and community to help them get back on their feet.
