The Midwest Marchdown celebrates academic pride and civic engagement in St. Louis while providing scholarships and promoting higher education for black and brown individuals through the rich traditions of Greek Letter Organizations.

The Midwest Marchdown has been a cornerstone of academic pride in St. Louis since 1981 and is the oldest ongoing step show in the Midwest. Through this event, we have provided scholarships and exposed students to the rich traditions of Greek Letter Organizations.

The event highlights the importance of higher education and civic engagement among black and brown individuals. Notably, this event is run by undergraduate and college-age men, with all proceeds raised and scholarships awarded on a peer-to-peer basis. Proceeds from the Marchdown fund scholarships for deserving high school students in the St. Louis area and provide strategic funding for the winning organizations.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., founded on December 4, 1906, is the oldest Black Greek-Letter Organization (BGLO) of the Divine Nine, and the Alpha Eta Citywide Chapter has called St. Louis home since 1942.  The Midwest Marchdown was started not only to entertain but to bring families together in support of our college-bound youth, fostering lasting memories.

Over the years, our chapter’s Midwest Marchdown has awarded over $35,000 in peer-to-peer scholarships and over $130,000 in prize money to winning fraternities and sororities.

This year’s 38th Annual Midwest Marchdown Scholarship Step Show will take place Friday October 18th at Harris-Stowe State University’s DJW Auditorium (3026 Laclede ave, St. Louis, MO 63103) during homecoming weekend. Doors open at 5pm.
