The Power of Collaboration: How Nonprofits and Businesses Are Driving Social Impact in St. Louis

St. Louis is witnessing a transformative shift in social impact, driven by growing collaboration between nonprofits and businesses. These partnerships, both large and small, are proving that combining forces can lead to remarkable results.

Small Businesses and Local Nonprofits: A Powerful Alliance

Small businesses and local nonprofits are teaming up, using their deep roots in the community to create solutions that directly benefit their neighbors. These collaborations not only build trust and shared responsibility, but also fuel economic growth. In fact, over half of the members of Social Enterprise STL, a network supporting social enterprises, are small businesses with a mission to make a positive impact.

Corporate Social Responsibility: Big Business Steps Up

Large corporations are also playing a crucial role in supporting social impact initiatives in St. Louis. Through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, they invest in various causes and provide vital financial support to nonprofits. Corporate giving in St. Louis has increased 15% in the last five years, according to the Gateway Center for Giving, enabling nonprofits to scale their programs and reach a wider audience.

St. Louis: A City of Collaborators

The collaborative spirit is evident in successful partnerships like Nestlé Purina & Petfinder Foundation, Edward Jones & United Way of Greater St. Louis, Boeing & St. Louis Science Center, and World Wide Technology & Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis.

_Food for Thought: _

The success of these collaborations raises a question: could this collaborative spirit extend to the St. Louis school system? Could partnerships with businesses address infrastructure needs and provide students with valuable real-world experience?

The Future of St. Louis: Collaboration is Key

The collaborative trend in St. Louis demonstrates the power of collective action. Nonprofits and businesses are building a more equitable, sustainable, and thriving community.

The future of St. Louis lies in collaboration. Let’s continue to bridge divides, work together, and build a stronger city for all.
