St. Louis workers facing discrimination as nooses appear in workplaces, targeting African American employees and causing fear and intimidation
ST. LOUIS CITY – The St. Lous City Branch of the NAACP has received a number of reports and photos from African American workers experiencing workplace discrimination/intimidation from Nooses being hung/displayed in the workplace; including within a St. Louis City department. African American workers are also subjected to being called “niggers” is some instances.
Additionally, African American contractors and construction workers are being subjected to unsafe working conditions and City incentivized projects; and African American project goals under Ordinance 70767 are being purposefully skirted in violation of City law.
We are prepared to brief the public on our findings and initiate formal complaints with the appropriate federal & local enforcement officials.
