Things To Do In St. Louis: Nuestra Comunidad: Hispanic St. Louis Presented By WASH U

Series: Thursday Nights at the Museum | View all series dates

Location: MacDermott Grand Hall | Museum

Date: Thursday, October 10, 2024

Time: 5:00pm–8:00pm

This program is presented in collaboration with Nine PBS and Humans of St. Louis.

Thursday Nights at the Museum is a weekly series where the museum exhibits are open late and you can enjoy pop-up activities, a cash bar, food and more!

Step into the heart of Hispanic Heritage Month as we explore the dynamic tapestry of St. Louis’s Hispanic community. Enjoy dance performances by Alma de Mexico and Sumak Kamari Tradicional Dance Group of Ecuador, see displays of traditional clothing from Hispanic countries, visit cultural resources tables, paint your own Taino petroglyph-inspired rocks, play lotería, and enjoy food and drinks for purchase from La Colombianita, Sur Sabor, and the Key Bistro. At 6:30pm, grab a seat as Carol Daniel of Nine PBS leads a conversation with Justina Coronel, Dr. Nathalia Garcia, Octavio Nieto, and Ana Rivera Gonzales, as they reflect on traditions, connections, struggles, moments of pride, and hopes for the future.

Schedule

5–7pm |  Food and drink are available for purchase from La Colombianita, Sur Sabor, the Key Bistro.

5:00–6:30pm | Visit cultural resource and activity tables, enjoy food and drinks, and explore our galleries.

5:50–6:05pm | Alma de Mexico performers outdoors on the North Plaza.

6:05–6:20 pm | Sumak Kamari Tradicional Dance Group of Ecuador performs on the North Plaza.

6:30pm | Take a seat in the MacDermott Grand Hall for the panel conversation.

Come back for more! Thursday Nights at the Museum are sometimes the most fun, sometimes the most thought-provoking, and always the most interesting night of your week. The museum exhibits are open late, and you’ll enjoy cash bar and food for purchase, pop-up activities, concerts, lectures, and more.

ASL interpretation is available for programs with two weeks’ advance notice. Please email access@mohistory.org to request ASL interpretation or with other accessibility questions.
