Explore Cultural Roots at City Museum’s Unique Exhibit

January 31 – April 30 CST

Celebrate Black History Month at the “Blessed by the Ancestors” Art Exhibit in St. Louis

This Black History Month, immerse yourself in the creative brilliance and cultural heritage of Saint Louis’ Black artists at “Blessed by the Ancestors”. Held at the City Museum in St. Louis, Missouri, this powerful art exhibit runs from January 31 to April 30, 2025, showcasing the vibrant artistry of local talent.

Curated by renowned artist Brock Seals, the exhibit explores themes of identity, resilience, and ancestry through a variety of mediums, including paintings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces. Visitors can expect a rich tapestry of storytelling woven through the works of featured artists like B.toyaaa, Olivia NgOzitheflower, Maxy Arts, and Queniqua Davis, among others. Each piece highlights the intimate connection between the artists and their roots, creating a dialog about heritage and the evolution of Black artistry.

The opening reception on Friday, January 31, from 6 PM to 8 PM, will be an unmissable opportunity to meet the artists and hear their stories. Notable works include Maxy Arts’ bold “Cornrow” and Queniqua Davis’ evocative “All I Can Be – Everything in Time Exists Now,” all of which celebrate the beauty and depth of Black culture.

Located at Beatnik Bob’s on the 3rd Floor of the museum, the exhibit is included with general admission or a member pass. More than just an art show, “Blessed by the Ancestors” is a space for reflection, connection, and community pride, uplifting diverse voices and fostering meaningful representation in the art world.
