Discover how Missouri’s major metropolitan areas fared in the latest US Money Real Estate report, with St. Louis ranked #25 and Kansas City at #44

This week, two of Missouri’s major metropolitan areas were highlighted in a report from US Money Real Estate. St. Louis, the state’s largest metro area and ranked 22nd in the nation, came in at #25, while Kansas City, the second largest, ranked #44. However, when considering city limits and another methodology from US News & World Report, Kansas City was placed at #52, while St. Louis fell to #114.
The city trailed behind other significant cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Memphis, and New Orleans. This disparity underscores the importance of leaders considering a merger between St. Louis and St. Louis County, as the current division diminishes the city’s standing in comparison to other major urban areas.
On a positive note, when St. Louis and St. Louis County are combined in the data from US Money, the metropolitan area as a whole performs quite well. For a deeper look into the rankings, check out the spoilers below and follow the link to read the full report.

In conclusion, according to US Money, St. Louis ranks as the 25th best metro city in the United States. As noted in the spoiler I shared, Kansas City came in at #44, which surprised me, as I believe K.C. deserves a higher placement. However, I suppose they are the experts in this matter. As always, New York takes the top spot, followed by Chicago and Los Angeles. I think the rankings are likely influenced by factors such as population and livability.
