Recap-Cold Water Elementary on May 3 held a free Wellness Fair hosted by Walmart and the PTA, featuring fun activities, health resources, and workshops to promote healthy living for students and families.

FLORISSANT, Mo. (May 7, 2025) In a joint initiative to promote healthy lifestyles among students, Walmart and the Cold Water Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) hosted a Wellness Fair at the school on Saturday, May 3, to educate and engage students and their families on the importance of maintaining good health. The event, which was free and open to the public, featured various health resources, engaging workshops and activities such as a Bubble Bus, bounce house, kickball game, martial arts, penalty and free throw contests and more.

PTA Wellness Fairs, made possible through a grant award from Walmart, provide a unique avenue to empower students with crucial health information. These fairs offer a fun, interactive and flexible platform for students to explore various health topics at their own pace, enhancing their learning experience beyond the traditional classroom setup.

“Cold Water Elementary was among forty schools across the nation and only one of three schools in the state of Missouri to be granted this award from the National PTA,” said Erica Huddleston, President of Cold Water Elementary PTA. “With a focus on physical, mental, and emotional, financial, and digital wellness, the event provided an opportunity for community members to engage in family fun activities while connecting with subject matter community-based organizations. We’re proud to celebrate having stronger, healthier communities.”

The PTA Wellness Fair program is part of the National PTA’s Healthy Lifestyles initiative, which includes the three pillars of healthy bodies, healthy minds and healthy earth.

“We strongly believe that a healthy lifestyle is a key component to students’ ability to thrive,” said Angie Briener, Store Manager for Florissant Walmart Supercenter. “These wellness fairs not only educate students about the importance of health but also provide them with practical resources to implement these learnings in their daily lives. We’re proud to be involved and show our support for the community.”

Together, Walmart and the National PTA continue to invest in the health and well-being of our nation’s students, fostering a culture of wellness that extends beyond the classroom.
