As we bid farewell to the iconic Blondie’s Brunch Bar this year, brunch enthusiasts in downtown St. Louis are left wondering about the changes in the area. Unfortunately, this is sometimes the reality of the business world—factors like low sales, expiring leases, or simply the need for a fresh start can lead to such departures.
I make it a point to visit downtown as often as possible, but it’s disheartening to witness some of the best businesses closing their doors. Various challenges contribute to this trend, including crime, ongoing abandonment, parking issues, disruptions from the unhoused population, and stiff competition.
So, as we say goodbye to Blondie’s, let’s welcome UKraft Brunch Cafe to the scene! Located near the Kiener Plaza, part of the Peabody Plaza Tower and across from City Garden, this new spot offers a stunning view. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Gateway Arch shining in the distance.
During a brunch meeting with a potential client, I indulged in a meat lover’s breakfast sandwich featuring ham, bacon, eggs, and a side of potatoes. It was my first caramel latte since 2024, while my guest opted for a steak and cheese sandwich accompanied by mango slaw.

(I am bit confused on why they say on Kiener Plaza, unless it extends into the Peabody Plaza, at the lobby of Peabody’s Tower)
However online it states: Located at the corner 7th and Market. Ground Level of the Peabody Plaza facing Market Street and directly across from Kiener Plaza. UKRAFT Brunch Cafe serves breakfast and lunch all day and has a full bar featuring a brunch cocktail menu.
