An intimate exploration of family, resilience, and authenticity through music.

On August 1st, 2025, I’ll be releasing my brand-new album titled “The Weight Of My Name.” But this isn’t just another release—it’s a personal milestone, a therapeutic journey, and above all, a bold testimony. I didn’t go into the studio planning to make an album. I went in with pain, with joy, with memories, and with stories that needed to be told. And from those sessions, this album was born.

“The Weight Of My Name” is more than a title. It’s a truth. It’s the burden, the battle, and the blessing of being G Souldier—a name that’s been praised, criticized, envied, misunderstood, and remembered. For me, G Souldier isn’t just a rap alias—it’s a calling. It’s a responsibility. It’s tied to my roots, to the legacy of my grandmother Marie Sellers, and to the deep love I hold for my family—even when that love is complicated by betrayal, jealousy, or silence.

This album reflects both sides of that weight—the support and the sabotage, the love and the pressure. There were people in my corner, but there were also fake friends and family members smiling in my face, secretly hoping I’d fail. People who only reached out with open hands, not open hearts. And this album gave me space to tell the truth about that.

Tracks like “Grandma Marie Sellers” serve as a tribute to the woman who helped raise me with strength and grace, who gave me a foundation I still stand on. That song, and many others on the album, allowed me to speak the truths I’ve held in too long.

This is my first release since dropping “ReTurn of the EmCee” and “Therapy Session”—both released on November 9, 2020. Those projects were personal, but The Weight Of My Name goes even deeper. Over the past two years, I’ve been going to the studio not to chase charts, but to heal, to release, to express. Each session became like therapy. And at some point, I looked back at the music I’d created and realized—this is an album. This is a story that deserves to be shared.

This is some of my best work to date. Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s honest. It’s real. It’s me. And I believe listeners will feel that from the very first track to the last. Every beat, every bar, every hook was crafted from lived experience. I’m not trying to copy what’s hot or chase a sound that’s trending. I’ve always stayed in my own lane. I’m not industry-made—I’m community-rooted.

My music holds people accountable—especially those who use a microphone without a message. I believe in music that uplifts, challenges, and opens eyes. I want people to walk away from this project not just nodding their heads to the beat, but understanding more about who I am—and maybe even more about themselves.

If you’re a listener who values authenticity, if you’ve ever carried the weight of love, expectations, or felt the sting of being misunderstood, this album is for you. This is not just music—it’s a mirror, a memoir, and a movement.

So on August 1st, I invite you to press play—not just on an album, but on a journey. Come walk with me through “The Weight Of My Name.” You’ll hear my pain. My truth. My soul.

And I promise—you’ll feel every ounce of it.
