Meta description Iconic Hollywood star Halle Berry turned 59 on August 14. Diagnosed with diabetes at 19, she has since embraced diet and lifestyle changes to manage the condition and age gracefully.

Iconic beauty Halle Berry recently turned 59 on Aug. 14. Yes, Halle Berry is pushing 60, but you can’t tell by looking at her. You also can’t tell that she was diagnosed with diabetes at age 19 and it took her some time to control it. It seems that as she has gracefully aged, she has also matured, changed her diet, and learned to control her illness. Like many people living with diabetes, the superstar actress had to make some serious lifestyle changes for the good of her health.

Halle’s Health has Changed Over the Years

Berry has become a prominent advocate for menopause awareness, speaking out about her own experiences and advocating for better understanding and support for women going through this life stage. She publicly declared, “I’m in menopause!” on Capitol Hill to challenge the stigma surrounding the topic and advocate for increased research and education funding. Berry has also launched Respin Health, a platform focused on providing resources and support for women navigating menopause.

Berry’s advocacy stems from her personal experience with perimenopause, the transition period leading up to menopause, which she says was initially misdiagnosed as herpes. This experience highlighted for her the lack of education and understanding surrounding menopause among both patients and medical professionals. She has since become a vocal advocate for open conversations about menopause and has spoken out about the need for better medical care and support for women during this time.
Berry’s efforts extend beyond speaking out. She is actively involved in legislative advocacy, joining female senators in introducing bills to boost federal research on menopause, according to ABC News.

She’s been open about her experience with vaginal dryness, which she initially attributed to herpes but was later diagnosed as perimenopause. This experience led her to advocate for women’s health and menopause awareness, including partnering with Joylux to develop products that address intimate wellness during menopause.

Her initial symptoms, including pain during sex and vaginal dryness, were misdiagnosed as herpes by her doctor. After further research and a second misdiagnosis (Sjögren’s syndrome), Berry learned she was actually experiencing perimenopause, the time leading up to menopause.

Berry’s work is aimed at empowering women to embrace this natural life stage with confidence and knowledge, and to demand better care and understanding from the medical community.

How Halle’s Look Has Changed Over the Years

Ms. Berry has been entertaining us for over three decades. She made her big screen debut at 25 in Spike Lee’s controversial classic, Jungle Fever. But it was her role as Angela opposite Eddie Murphy in Boomerang that catapulted her into stardom and made her a household name. The Oscar-winning actress and mom has slowed her work on the big screen, but we don’t care. She’s earned a break.

In the same year, she played in the hood classic, Strictly Business, with funnyman Tommy Davidson.

The iconic role that kicked off her stardom happened in 1992 when she played “Angela” opposite Eddie Murphy in Boomerang. We all fell in love her then and, 30 years later, we still do.;

After Boomerang, we knew her talent was able to match her appearance. She showed her acting ability again in 1995 when she played Khaila Richards in Losing Isaiah.

Remember this movie? She played Josie Potenza in 1996’s The Rich Man’s Wife.

Some roles she may want to forget (us too). This may be one of the roles. “Nina” in Bulworth (1998).

Then you had her take one of many iconic roles to come, including that of a Bond girl in Die Another Day (2002).
