Tornado Recovery: City Hall Connects Local Business Owners to Crucial Aid

Local Business Owners Get Critical Support and Guidance at City Hall Tornado Recovery Event

Business owners affected by the recent tornado are invited to a special resource and information event at City Hall on Thursday, July 17. The event will take place in the Kennedy Room (#208) from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM and is designed to provide support, guidance, and resources to help businesses recover and rebuild.

Event Details:

Date: Thursday, July 17

Time: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Kennedy Room #208, City Hall

Parking & Refreshments: Free

This event is hosted by Mavis Thompson, License Collector, with support from several city officials and departments, including Adam Layne (Treasurer), Gregory FX Daly (Collector of Revenue), Donna Baringer (Comptroller), and Michael Butler (Recorder of Deeds). Additionally, alderpersons from impacted wards—Michael Browning (9th Ward), Shameen Clark Hubbard (10th Ward), Laura Keys (11th Ward), Sharon Tyus (12th Ward), Pam Boyd (13th Ward), and Rasheen Aldridge (14th Ward)—will be present to engage with attendees.

What to Expect:

The event will feature presentations and resources from key organizations, including:

Eastern Missouri Legal Services

America’s SBDC Missouri

Justine Petersen

FEMA

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)

City Assessor

Building Division

These organizations will provide critical information on financial assistance, legal support, rebuilding permits, and other recovery resources. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect directly with representatives to address their specific needs and concerns.
