Empowering St. Louis teens with free driver’s ed to ensure safe journeys on the road.

Eligibility is limited to public and charter school students in the city

(March 27, 2025 – St. Louis, MO) We are thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity for public and charter school students in grades 9-12, thanks to the collaborative efforts of St. Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis, and SaveDrivers. This second series of driver’s education classes will equip our youth with essential driving skills, ensuring they are well prepared for the road ahead.

Classes will take place in April, May, and June 2025.  Due to high demand, slots will fill up quickly. We encourage parents to get involved, as their consent is necessary, and they must participate in a mandatory Zoom orientation for their teen to enroll. This is a remarkable chance for students to gain independence and confidence through safe driving practices. To secure a spot in the program register at https://bit.ly/DriversEdBGCSTL.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Driver’s Education Program

1.     How many people participated in the last session?

More than 300 individuals expressed initial interest, with a full capacity of 130 participants. One hundred eight youth attended, resulting in 99 proud graduates from SaveDrivers.

2.     How long are the sessions?

Session lengths vary based on whether the student has a permit. Non-permit holders will attend two sessions totaling six hours and will take the written driver’s exam after completing the classroom curriculum. If they pass the test, they will continue with the curriculum to obtain a driver’s license. Permit holders will receive a minimum of two hours of formal driving lessons. If an assessment shows they are ready to progress, they will take a formal road test. If they are not ready, additional driving instruction will continue until they are prepared for the road test.

3. How many students will be accepted?

Our goal is to accommodate 200 teens.

3.     Where do I sign up?
