Help feed St. Louis families in need at the Annual Canned Food Drive on November 15

A community thrives when its members support one another. We invite you to be a part of this spirit of giving at the Annual Canned Food Drive, hosted by the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation. In partnership with Clement Chrysler and Foxy 106.9, this event is a chance for us to come together and make a real difference for families in St. Louis. Your donation, no matter the size, helps fill pantries and bring hope to our neighbors.

This year, as we celebrate 34 years of dedicated service, we are reminded of the power of collective action. Let’s unite to ensure no family in our community goes hungry.

More Than a Food Drive: Our Mission in Action

The Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation is more than just an organization; it’s a pillar of support for underprivileged families and inner-city youth in St. Louis. Founded by former NFL player Demetrious Johnson, the foundation was born from a desire to give back. Having received help as a child, Demetrious was inspired to create a legacy of support for others facing similar challenges.

Our mission is to offer a helping hand through mentoring, financial aid, and educational programs. We believe in empowering young people and families to build brighter futures. The food drive is just one of many ways we work to strengthen our community.

Programs That Build a Stronger Community

Your support for the food drive fuels the larger mission of the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation. We run several programs and events throughout the year to provide consistent support.

Annual Community Events

Beyond the food drive, we host key events to bring joy and relief to families during important times of the year. Our Christmas toy giveaway ensures children experience the magic of the holidays, while our Easter grocery assistance helps families share a special meal together. These events are about more than just material aid; they are about creating positive memories and showing our community that we care.

Empowering Our Youth

We are deeply committed to helping at-risk youth find a path to success. Programs like “Champions of Change” connect young people with employment opportunities through strategic partnerships with local juvenile courts and Job Corps. By providing vocational support and mentorship, we help them develop the skills and confidence needed to secure a stable future.

The foundation recently secured a former recreation center, which will become our first dedicated home. This new space will allow us to expand our services and reach even more people in need.

The Impact of Your Support

Every can of soup, box of pasta, or jar of peanut butter you donate contributes to a larger wave of positive change. When we come together, we strengthen the very fabric of our community. The mayor of St. Louis has noted how the foundation’s efforts have been a long-standing source of strength and support for the city.

Your donation on November 15th will directly help us feed deserving families. It’s a simple act of kindness that has a profound impact, providing not just a meal, but also a message of hope and solidarity.

A Partnership for Good

This event would not be possible without the incredible support of our partners. We are immensely grateful to Clement Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for hosting us and to Foxy 106.9 for helping to spread the word. Their commitment to the community is instrumental in the success of this food drive. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors—Element, UTU, RAM, and DJF—and to all the donors who contribute year after year.

How You Can Help

Participation is simple. On Saturday, November 15th, gather your non-perishable food donations and bring them to Clement Chrysler in Florissant between 8 AM and 4 PM. Your contribution will help us continue our 34-year legacy of service.

Let’s work together to make this year’s Annual Canned Food Drive the most successful one yet. Your generosity will fill plates and warm hearts across St. Louis. We look forward to seeing you there!
