A Night of Reflection, Resilience, and Recognition in St. Louis

St. Louis, MO – September 18, 2025 – The St. Louis City NAACP is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated annual Freedom Fund Dinner, set to take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Downtown Marriott Hotel. This year’s event will shine a spotlight on The Honorable Maxine Waters, a trailblazing congresswoman and tireless advocate for civil rights, as she receives the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
In a year marked by challenges, including the devastating tornado that struck the region on May 16th, the NAACP is using this event as an opportunity to bring the community together in a spirit of resilience and hope. To support those most affected, the organization has reserved 100 complimentary seats for tornado victims and their families, offering them a chance to join this evening of celebration and unity. Reservations for these seats will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis, and interested individuals can call 314-208-2050 to secure their spot. Children are welcome, and transportation will be provided for those staying in hotels or shelters.
“This dinner is not only a night of reflection and recognition, it is also a night of unity,” said Adolphus Pruitt, President of the St. Louis City NAACP. “We want to give families impacted by the tornado an opportunity to step away from their challenges, come together with the community, and enjoy an evening that uplifts hope and perseverance.”
The Freedom Fund Dinner serves as the NAACP’s signature annual fundraiser, supporting its critical work in civil rights advocacy, community empowerment, and social justice throughout the St. Louis region. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear inspiring messages, connect with fellow community members, and celebrate the achievements of one of the nation’s most influential voices in social justice, Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
